- Chronic disease
- Eating disorders
- Unintentional weight loss
- Early stage kidney disease
- Blood disorders like anemia
- Food allergies and intolerances
- Lung disease including COPD, cystic fibrosis, and asthma
- Gastrointestinal disorders including irritable bowel syndrome, diverticular disease, Crohn's disease, and ulcerative colitis
Anyone with a nutrition-related medical condition who would like to see a dietitian should speak with their primary healthcare provider, to discuss available care options & referral to Outpatient Nutrition Services, if appropriate.
Note: Outpatient Nutrition Services differ from the support offered by the Island Health Public Health Nutrition program, which promotes health through nutrition education for groups and community partners (not individuals). Local organizations, schools and school districts (grade & post-secondary), governments, and other community agencies or networks should contact their local Public Health Unit for more information.
